Welcome
The Origins Growth and Achievements of IMCA
We tell the story here of IMCA's growth and development since its
original foundation in 1964 at Slough in Buckinghamshire, England.
Why were we established, who were the founders and what successful
and unsuccessful paths has the Faculty taken us along since then?
Its a fascinating tale of tens of thousands of graduates and hundreds
of Faculty in 45 countries seeking to use lifelong action learning
approaches to improve managerial effectiveness which gained prized
accreditations in the UK and the USA from the mid 1980s. Wantonly
expelled from its homeland by a bizarre twist of fate in 1988 and
by financial meltdown in 1991 it was resurrected by its Members from
Australasia and Malaysia and has been sustained and flourished ever
since by its global community.
IMCA has since its inception been at the leading edge of learning
innovation and design in its programmes at every level. It was the
first such institution to go fully onto the Internet by 1995. Its
Faculty has included myriad outstanding scholars and practitioners
of action learning from all continents and its Court of Honorary
Members boasts outstanding practitioners from across the globe.
Most of the buttons to the left here give access to the documentary
evidence of our history ... but first try the Story
Telling link which provides History in Focus for those coming
to IMCA perhaps for the first time as an Associate or a new Faculty
Member. Which is not to undersell the remainder of the IMCA archive
which has been custom designed for the nostalgic. Nor to suggest you
should fail to link to Tomorrow's History as divined by IMCA's
leaders today.
