UMCB MBA Launch Press Conference 1983

In 1983, the new IMCA qualifications programmes were ready for launch. The MBA had been designed on the beach at Coolangatta, Queensland by Margerison and Wills on a sunny afternoon, but the launch was in London England.

The launch pictures inside show the key staff members at work – Drs Keith Howard, Sherril Kennedy and Gordon Wills. At that time IMCA was known as the University Management Centre from Buckingham, which changed to International once major developments occurred in Asia.. One of the journalists from Personnel Management- the journal of the UK’s Institute of Personnel Management (now known as the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development or CIPD), was to subsequently pen a memorable article Buckingham Business School. It is an excellent review of where IMCA stood on the threshold of its ‘own’ qualification programmes, and why the initiative was taken.
