Conrad Jupiters, Gold Coast, Australia
Hotel Conrad Jupiter’s Casino located on the Gold Coast in Australia is the
coast’s largest employer with 2,500 employees. IMCA’s action learning
courses were particularly attractive to the organization due to their promotion
of individual and organizational effectiveness. Employees undertaking the IMCA
MBA worked alongside the organization’s executive team to ensure that
Associates’ action learning would add value to the organization. The IMCA
course was designed to help Jupiter’s achieve their vision and deliver
solutions to organizational problems.
The perceived value of the course prompted a further five managers to join the
original three managers who were undertaking the course. They undertook a
variety of projects, such as cultural change programme implementation. All
projects undertaken explored how the company might achieve their vision.
Recommendations made by associates through these projects were implemented. It
is estimated that Conrad Jupiter’s return on investment from workplace
learning is some A$70,000 saved from the marketing budget and A$70,000 saved
from results-based development. One of the associates was later promoted to
hotel operations analyst and commented: “IMCA’s MBA programme has allowed me
to think more holistically about the business we are in, as opposed to managing
‘in situ’ as so many of us do.”
