Jones Lang Wootton
Jones Lang Wootton, the leading chartered surveying partnership, relies for its
success on the knowledge and skills within the firm. This is particularly the
case in a rapidly changing marketplace where traditional development, investment
and financing skills need fundamental overhaul to meet the challenge of the
future. IMCA were asked to design an action learning MBA course that would
assist in the development of professional and specialist skills as well as an
understanding of other key areas of business and financial management. The
course model involved a 24 months’ schedule including a 12 month Diploma in
business management, with the remaining content dedicated to completing the MBA.
In addition to the core course areas of marketing, human resources, finance and
business strategy, the course dealt with issues specific to Jones Lang
Wootton’s business, such as management of property investment. The firm’s
partners, responsible for these areas, worked with IMCA faculty in presenting
two-day workshops designed to give participants the knowledge and skills
necessary to improve their effectiveness. Workshops were also designed to cover:
Two Master’s projects were completed during the course, both focusing on issues of strategic importance to the firm. Other projects looked at interface and corporate integrative relationships. These involved cross-functional analysis and how each participant’s operating unit contributes to Jones Lang Wootton’s business strategy and how it could be improved.
