How Publishing can work for you

IMCA's commitment to Published Learning

IMCA is committed to capturing and disseminating knowledge gained from Action Learning Masters and Doctoral programmes. Publishing an article, report or review is a requirement of many IMCA programmes. The publishing strategy is designed to open the Associate's research to a wider global audience of academics, researchers and professionals, with possibilities of networking among like-minded people.

What this means to the Associate

Associates completing Masters and Doctoral programmes will publish, depending upon the course requirements and the route undertaken. If you are unsure of your particular route, full details can be found in the Ordinances held within IMCA's conspectus.

In the main, the papers you will be asked to submit for publication will consist of:

  1. Literature Review
Literature Reviews should be approximately 6,000 words in length with a 400 word abstract and a selection of keywords describing the content of the paper. Literature Reviews are published on-line in Management Literature in Review (MLR).
  2. Action Learning Outcome
Final actionable conclusions overall, based on the Associate's MBA dissertation or Doctoral thesis, published on-line in Action Learning Outcomes (ALO).
  3. Set Perspective
This is a tutor led paper summarising the main learning points overall across in-company sets. Set perspectives are published online in Action Learning Outcomes (ALO).

Why Should I publish my Work?

Your organisation will benefit from your studies, as real 'live' work related issues will be tackled during your programme. Best Practices are shared in a global arena, raising the profile of your research and your organisation. Add value to your work by publishing your research.

For those who have not published before, it can seem a very daunting task. The IMCA team are here to offer help and advice every step of the way. For support please email: imc@imcassociation.edu

From time to time you may wish to publish further reports and articles. We are always on the lookout for new publishing opportunities.

Submitting your paper

Please forward your work electronically. This is by far the most simple and effective method of submitting work. Work must be sent in Microsoft Word or PDF format by e-mail as an attached file to: imc@imcassociation.edu

Please note: Nearly all IMCA Journal articles undergo extensive editing and rewriting and IMCA typically holds copyright on the finished product. Authors continue to own the underlying ideas in the article.
